Presentation Plus
Glencoe World Geography

Presentation Plus is a PowerPoint-based product for teachers that goes along with a geography textbook. The product presents many of the concepts and information contained in the book in an interesting and exciting way. My job was to create an interface for a middle-school geography textbook.

The concept behind this design was to create an interface that brings to mind the idea of a travelogue. The book cover, where the text for the presentation is placed, shows the wear-and-tear the sketchbook would have from a trip around the world. The sketches in the background are of many well and lesser-known places that such a traveler might visit. The tape provides an interesting and complimentary way to accommodate the navigational features of the presentation, and adds to the scrapbook feel of the design.

I drew the sketches freehand using Painter and a Wacom tablet while looking at photographs of the places. The cover was scanned, then aged and worn using Painter. Finally, the entire composition was put together in Photoshop.

The second interface shown, without the cover, allows for a closer look at the sketches below. This was used for the title screens within the presentation.
