Map + Updates
Fort Washington Way Pedestrian Kiosks
City of Cincinnati, Ohio
16 by 18 inches
3M Scotchprint
This project was done in multiple phases. The original map was created in 2001 while I was working as a co-op for the City of Cincinnati. A version of the map was originally created by a cartographer using cad software, creating misalignments and uneditable text. Our purposes required that the map be oriented in four different directions, so up was always the direction the viewer was facing. My job at that time was to redraw most of the map to make it editable, and to make certain of proper alignments. Additionally, I was in charge of checking the map for accuracy, which involved working with the city architects and transportation engineers.
The second phase of the project was done after my return to the city. After two years of installation, many of the destinations on the maps had changed– some had moved, others had been renamed, and still others changed entirely. My job was to create, have produced, and install patches on the maps to bring them up-to-date.
