Map System
University of Cincinnati

This series of four maps was created in 2004 while working from home as a freelance designer for Kolar Design. The maps were created to provide a base system for all of the University’s mapping needs, including signage, brochures, and the web. The artwork was set-up as layered Adobe Illustrator files in order for features to be activated and de-activated based on the specific needs of an application. Additionally, the artwork was set-up in such a manner as to make future updates easy to implement. Both a three-dimensional color and a simplified black-and-white map were created for the East and West campuses of the University.

The initial look and content of the maps was based on a flattened architectural rendering, which was current as of the time the map was started. All artwork was completely redrawn in Adobe Illustrator. Next, updates were done based on the future construction schedule of the University in order to make the maps accurate for the next four years.
